Statement on Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Background
CPEP recognizes AI can be a powerful technology in support of our vision of fostering a purpose economy.
Our Commitment to Responsible AI Principles
At CPEP, we have the obligation to use AI responsibly, and purposefully. To that end, CPEP has developed a set of Responsible AI Principles to provide a clear path for the project to utilize this technology. It applies to all those using AI tools (e.g., chatbots, agents, analytics) for purpose initiatives.
PRINCIPLE 1
We strive to design AI systems that empower humans, include human oversight and promote equity while ensuring these tools do not completely substitute for humans. We strive to develop AI that is fair, inclusive, and avoids bias in its inputs, models, and outputs.
PRINCIPLE 2
We respect both individuals’ privacy and the need for transparency in the utilization of data and AI. Trust is an important objective in the adoption of AI. We require that users are informed, where practicable, of the limitations and risks of the AI systems they are using. We incorporate privacy into the design of AI systems. All data are tightly controlled, and internal processes are designed to ensure that the safety, and security of individuals are protected.
PRINCIPLE 3
We aspire for our AI systems to meet ethical, legal, and regulatory standards. We commit to building AI that is tested, upgraded, and accompanied by AI literacy training for CPEP’s AI developers before use, while monitoring regularly.
CPEP Position on AI Guidelines and Policies
These guidelines enable CPEP to use AI to advance social good, equity, and sustainability. We support the evaluation of current guidelines and policy frameworks to confirm they are fit-for-purpose and provide the flexibility needed to accommodate the rapidly evolving landscape of AI development and use across the social purpose ecosystem.
